“Resonate With Stories” is woven into the fabric of Ampersand. We believe meaning takes shape through resonance — in the quiet alignments between people, places, time, and objects, often beyond words.
At the beginning of each year, we pause to share these reflections through a single, considered object.
As we step into 2026, Ampersand’s direction has come into clearer focus. Our approach to building a multi-brand ecosystem has never been driven by speed or replication, but by choices that favor depth, complexity, and longevity.
From Tainan to Kenting, and onward to Kyoto, U.I.J, VUDAS, OAR, and KAGI each emerge from distinct rhythms of place. Our role is not to unify them into one form, but to allow each story to unfold fully within a shared, flowing current.
It was through this way of thinking that we came to tumi-isi. At first glance, it may appear as a set of wooden blocks. What stayed with us, however, was its philosophy — an understanding of building together rather than building alike. Like stones in a riverbed, each piece is shaped differently, yet stability emerges through adjustment and relation.
Tumi-isi translates this natural order into an object felt through the hands, where difference becomes the very condition from which balance is formed.
In 2026, we chose tumi-isi as an object that reflects the spirit of the year. Developed in collaboration with A4 Design Office and customized to express Ampersand’s values, each brand is represented through its own color. More than a set of blocks, it becomes a gentle note written for the year ahead.
Through resetting and stacking, focus gathers without force. And when balance is found once more, inner stillness returns — resonating quietly between the inner world and the world beyond.
